座長による作演「透明人間」は、
劇団員のみ4人で望んだ朗読劇。

〜「透明人間」を終えて〜
みなさん、こんにちは。八焔座・座長の菊地史恩です。
八焔座朗読企画「透明人間」無事終了いたしました。この場を借りて、ご来場頂きましたお客様を始め、場所を提供してくださったCafé nook様、当日スタッフの藤原みなみさんに、改めて感謝申し上げます。
さて、今回上演した「透明人間」。事故をきっかけにホームレスになってしまった金村哲という青年を中心に紡がれる、クリスマス・イブからクリスマスにかけての物語なのですが、実を言うと、このストーリーを最初に思いついたのは3年前の大学4年生時。作中で主人公が座っている、池袋駅西武東口の宝くじ売り場の前でした。
「食べ物をください。」
大きなスケッチブックに黒い油性ペンで書かれたその言葉の横で、当時の僕より少し歳上の男性が踞っていました。話しかけようかどうしようか悩んだ末、彼の座っている斜め向かい側で、待ち合わせをしているフリをして様子を伺うことに。多くの人が素通りして行く中、小綺麗にしているおば様二人組が彼にコンビニ袋を手渡したのを見届けた後、宝くじ売り場の裏にある売店でおにぎりとお茶、あと何だったかは覚えてないけど洋菓子を買い、彼に手渡しました。
受け取った彼は僕に何回も何回も、怯えたように「ありがとう」を言っていました。
「寒くないですか？」
「大丈夫です。」
「体調悪くないですか？」
「大丈夫です。」
何を話したかはあんまり覚えてないですが、何を聞いても大丈夫の一点張り。
最後に、気をつけてくださいと言って、西武池袋線の改札に向かいました。
こう書くと感動的な話に見えるかもしれませんが、もし仮に彼が、
「寒くないですか？」
「寒いです。」
「体調悪くないですか？」
「悪いです。」
と言ったならば、僕は何が出来たでしょうか？
とんでもない。凄く臆病で、浅ましく、偽善的な行為です。
正直彼の顔がどんなだったかもはっきりと思い出せません。
でも、タックスヘイブンみたいな世界には到底関われない僕らに出来ることって、きっとこれくらいですし、僕には書くことしか出来ないですし。
彼は一体今どこで何をやってるんだろう。今頭に浮かぶのは、ただただそのことだけです。

ホームレスを救いましょうとか、社会の根本を立て直しましょうみたいな大きなことなんて言えません。
ただ本番を見ていただいたお客様も、これから脚本を見てくださる方々も、しばらく会ってない友人や遠方に住んでる親御さんやお子さんに、少しでも思いを駆せていただければなと思っております。
